DIY Painting Faux Leather Pants

There are some great "Pleather" items out there on the market lately. They're inexpensive and can look like the real thing.

I purchased a pair of these pants at Zara and thought I would embellish the pockets with a bit of paint. If I ruined them, it wasn't such a big deal.

I used Martha Stewart Craft Paints, and a pencil eraser.

I just dipped the end of the pencil lightly into the paint and dotted it on to my pockets.

I was trying to create an "ombre" pattern of sorts. I started with the gold and once that dried, I used the side of the eraser to make the smaller blue dots. I'm really happy with the outcome.

Creating Images within Your DIY Paper Snowflakes

Here are the steps to creating your own paper snowflakes, which are great to use to decorate a dessert table or just add some wintery fun to your home.

Below are the basic folding steps to create any snowflake.

Now that you have your basic shape, it's time to draw your design. For the first snowflake, I chose a cupcake pattern. Remember, anything you draw on the folded edge will be mirrored. So if you draw half a cupcake, you’ll get a whole cupcake when you unfold your snowflake.

Cut out your shapes. A sharp scissor and lightweight paper work great. You could also use a craft knife to get more detailed.

 Notice the cupcakes?

Above I show you how to create a heart and a tree within your snowflake.

Let it snow! Start with some simple designs and see where the scissors take you.

Squirrel and Owl Custom Wedding Cake Topper

Here's a custom-made, needle felted wedding cake topper I made for a lovely couple getting married in March. I can't wait to see some pictures of it on top of their cake! Instead of the usual top hat and bow tie for the groom, the bride requested something different....a black cap with BK for Brooklyn.

If you or anyone you know needs a custom wedding cake topper, just head over to my Etsy page and take a look. All custom made - to the animals of your choice, flowers, color of base and more!
